The GO 12-SME/SP2 is a standout model in LEM’s GO-SME family of integrated current sensors. Designed for AC, DC, and pulsed current measurement in industrial and automotive applications, it provides galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits. Housed in a standard SOIC-8 surface-mount package (8-SOIC, 3.90 mm width), the device is extremely compact and can be placed directly on a PCB, significantly improving board space utilization.

Based on open-loop Hall-effect ASIC technology, the GO 12-SME/SP2 delivers ±1% accuracy (typical 1.3% at 25°C). Proprietary stress and temperature compensation algorithms maintain outstanding accuracy over a wide temperature range (–40°C to +125°C) with extremely low thermal drift. Total error stays within 1% across the full temperature range. Moreover, a hysteresis-free design eliminates measurement drift caused by residual magnetisation, ensuring long-term reliability. This means not only more accurate current readings but also better repeatability and less calibration maintenance over the life of your equipment – a true quality differentiator for high-end inverters, power supplies, and automotive applications.
The standard SOIC-8 package and surface-mount design enable fast, efficient assembly. An integrated primary conductor eliminates the need for an external magnetic core, dramatically reducing the footprint on the PCB. Low primary resistance (0.9 mΩ) also lowers power dissipation and improves system efficiency. For space-constrained designs – such as e-bike controllers or compact DC-DC converters – choosing the GO 12-SME/SP2 means a more compact layout, lower bill-of-material costs, and faster development cycles.
With a typical response time of just 2 µs, the sensor captures rapid current changes with precision. In IGBT overcurrent protection – where microseconds can mean the difference between device failure and system safety – this speed is critical.
The sensor provides galvanic isolation with a dielectric test voltage of 2500 V RMS, along with 4 mm creepage and clearance distances (dCl, dCp), meeting major safety standards. Differential stray-field rejection technology ensures excellent immunity to external magnetic fields, even in high-noise environments.
The GO 12-SME/SP2 operates from –40°C to +125°C and meets AEC-Q100 Grade 1 automotive reliability standards. It performs consistently in extreme cold or high-temperature industrial settings. The product is also certified to several international safety standards: IEC 61800-5-1:2007, IEC 62109-1:2010, UL 1577:2014, and others.
Small motor drives – real-time current monitoring for motor efficiency optimisation
HVAC systems – inverter current measurement for precise control of compressors and fans
E-bikes / E-scooters – battery management system current monitoring
Home appliances – white goods motor current detection for energy-saving control
Photovoltaic inverters – DC/AC side current sensing for safe and efficient PV system operation
DC-DC converters & onboard chargers – isolated current measurement to enhance functional safety
In the current sensor market, combining high accuracy, small footprint, and high insulation withstand voltage is extremely rare – yet the GO 12-SME/SP2 achieves all three. It integrates wide-temperature high accuracy, 2 µs response, and 2500 V RMS isolation into a single SOIC-8 chip. This not only shrinks your BOM size but also – thanks to hysteresis-free operation and strong noise immunity – greatly reduces system integration risk and tuning effort. Whether you are designing a next-generation onboard charger, a high-efficiency inverter, or a compact power module, the GO 12-SME/SP2 delivers the reliable performance and competitive price you need for a market-ready current measurement solution.
