In an era of accelerating global electrification, accurate current measurement has become a core requirement for industrial control, renewable energy systems, and power electronics. According to industry analysis, the global current sensor market is expected to reach USD 4.765 billion by 2026, with a compound annual growth rate of 9.53%. LEM, a global leader in electrical measurement transducers, has developed the HAT1200-S high-current Hall sensor. With its outstanding performance and reliability, it is increasingly the preferred solution for engineers facing high-current detection challenges.
The HAT1200-S is a key model in LEM’s HAT series of compact industrial current transducers. It is designed for electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed currents while ensuring electrical isolation between the primary circuit (high-power side) and the secondary circuit (electronic control side). The sensor has a nominal primary current (IPN) of 1200A and a measuring range up to ±2500A (approximately three times the rated value), enabling it to handle load fluctuations and transient overloads. Based on open-loop Hall effect technology, the HAT1200-S achieves high measurement accuracy while maintaining a compact structure and low power consumption.

The HAT1200-S has a nominal measurement current of 1200A and extends its measuring range to ±2500A. For applications that need to handle motor start-up currents, sudden load changes, or other transient high currents, this wide range means more reliable protection – a 3× headroom without needing additional range-switching circuitry.
±1% accuracy and ±1% linearity provide a reliable basis for current monitoring and control. In applications such as closed-loop current control of variable frequency drives or load monitoring in power supplies, this accuracy level ensures effective control quality and operational efficiency.
A response time of <5 μs allows the HAT1200-S to capture current changes promptly. For scenarios requiring fast overcurrent protection or transient current monitoring – such as protection triggering in switching power supplies or transient control in motor drives – this feature is particularly critical.
The 4.9 kVrms isolation voltage rating ensures safe separation between the high-power primary circuit and the low-voltage control circuit. In industrial environments and power electronics equipment, this isolation capability not only protects downstream control circuits from damage but also ensures operator safety.
An operating temperature range of -40℃ to +105℃ enables the HAT1200-S to function reliably in conditions from extremely cold industrial environments to high-temperature power equipment. Whether in outdoor cabinets during northern winters or inside hot-running VFDs, the sensor remains stable and accurate.
The compact modular design combined with panel mounting allows the HAT1200-S to be easily deployed even in space-constrained equipment. Its small size and weight of only about 270g save installation space and reduce overall equipment weight.
Supports bidirectional measurement of AC, DC, and pulsed currents, allowing both positive and negative currents to be measured. Whether monitoring sine waves in AC variable-speed drives or measuring charge/discharge currents in battery-powered systems, the HAT1200-S is up to the task.
With ±15 mA current consumption, the sensor maintains very low power draw even in high-current measurement applications. In power management and battery-operated systems where energy efficiency is required, this feature helps reduce overall system energy use.
LEM is a benchmark company in the global electrical transducer field, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, with R&D and manufacturing sites in Switzerland, Japan, China, and Bulgaria. Products are CE, RoHS, and UL certified. Choosing the HAT1200-S means choosing quality proven in global markets over the long term.
