    LEM HC16F 1200-S00 Product Overview

    The HC16F 1200-S00 is an open-loop Hall effect current transducer from LEM's HC16F series, designed for the electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed currents with galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits. This through-hole version (S00) is specifically engineered for high-power automotive applications such as electric power steering, starter generators, and converters. Featuring a dual air-gap design and a compact PCB-mount housing with an integrated sleeve, it provides high-voltage isolation and significantly reduced core size and weight.

    Rated for 1200 A nominal with a ±1200 A measuring range, it outputs a fully ratiometric voltage of 2.5 V ± 2 V (instantaneous) with 1.75% accuracy and ±0.5% linearity. The sensitivity is 1.67 mV/A. Response time is 4 µs and bandwidth is DC to 40 kHz. Supply voltage is +5 V (4.85 to 5.15 V) with a maximum supply current of 35 mA. Mass is 29 g and operating temperature is -40°C to +125°C. The sensor is designed for unidirectional polarization.

    The HC16F 1200-S00 employs open-loop Hall effect technology with a dual ASIC configuration, delivering 1.75% accuracy and ±0.5% linearity while maintaining very low thermal offset and sensitivity drift across the entire -40°C to +125°C temperature range. The ±1200 A range provides ample headroom for measuring nominal currents up to 1200 A with transient overcurrent capability, while the 4 µs response time and 40 kHz bandwidth capture fast-changing motor drive and switching waveforms with high fidelity. The compact PCB-mount design weighs only 29 g, making it ideal for space-constrained automotive applications. The through-hole version enables robust PCB integration, and the integrated sleeve provides high-voltage isolation. The fully ratiometric output allows the sensor to share the same power supply as the ADC, preventing errors due to reference mismatch, and the unipolar +5 V supply simplifies system power design.
