    HCPL-7840-500E Product Overview

    The HCPL-7840-500E is an isolation amplifier from Broadcom, designed for accurate current sensing in electronic motor drives and other high-noise industrial environments. It employs an optical isolation barrier that provides galvanic isolation between the input and output circuits, enabling safe measurement of motor phase currents in inverter applications.

    Rated for a -3 dB bandwidth of 100 kHz, it outputs a fully differential analog signal with 0.3 mV input offset voltage and 0.004% nonlinearity, ensuring high fidelity current measurement. Supply voltage is 4.5 V to 5.5 V, allowing operation from standard 5 V supplies. Mass is approximately 0.55 g and operating temperature is -40°C to +85°C. Insulation test voltage is 3750 Vrms (per UL 1577) . The 15 kV/µs common-mode rejection at VCM = 1000 V ensures stable operation in electrically noisy environments .
