    LEM HMSR 6-SMS Product Overview

    The HMSR 6-SMS is an open-loop Hall effect current transducer from LEM's HMSR-SMS Series, designed for the electronic measurement of DC and AC currents with galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits. This surface-mount SOIC-10 package sensor is factory calibrated and features a very low resistance primary conductor (0.76 mΩ), reinforced insulation, and dual overcurrent detection outputs. The device is designed for high-voltage applications requiring precision and strong immunity against external fields.

    Rated for 6 A nominal with a measuring range of ±15 A, it outputs a ratiometric analog voltage of 2.5 ± 0.8 V at nominal current with ±1.5% accuracy and ±0.75% linearity. Sensitivity is 133.33 mV/A. Response time is 2 µs and frequency bandwidth is 300 kHz. Supply voltage range is 4.5 V to 5.5 V with a maximum current consumption of 26 mA. Operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +125°C. Insulation test voltage is 4.95 kV RMS with reinforced insulation for high-voltage applications. The device features bidirectional polarization and surface mount PCB mounting. The product is Active with a 5-year LEM warranty.

    The HMSR 6-SMS employs open-loop Hall effect technology with a very low loss magnetic core, delivering ±1.5% accuracy and ±0.75% linearity while providing reinforced galvanic isolation . A key feature is the dual overcurrent detection outputs (user-configurable and factory-set), enabling flexible and redundant system-level protection without additional circuitry. The single +5 V supply simplifies integration into low-voltage digital systems. The very low primary conductor resistance of 0.76 mΩ minimizes power losses and enables the device to withstand high surge currents such as lightning strikes . The compact surface-mount SOIC-10 package offers low power consumption (26 mA maximum), high immunity to external interference, and no insertion losses.
