    LEM HMSR 8-SMS Product Overview

    The HMSR 8-SMS is an open-loop Hall effect current transducer from LEM's HMSR series, designed for the electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed currents with galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits. This compact PCB-mount sensor is specifically engineered for automotive applications, featuring a surface-mount (SMS) design that accommodates a busbar inserted directly into the sensor slot.

    Rated for 8 A nominal with a ±8 A measuring range, it outputs a ratiometric voltage with 2% accuracy at +25°C and ±0.5% linearity. Response time is 5 µs and bandwidth is 100 kHz. Supply voltage is 5 V (4.75 to 5.25 V) with a maximum supply current of 20 mA. Operating temperature is -40°C to +125°C. Insulation test voltage is 1.1 kV with a creepage distance of 4.2 mm and clearance of 2 mm.

    The HMSR 8-SMS employs open-loop Hall effect technology, delivering 2% accuracy and ±0.5% linearity while maintaining excellent performance across a wide temperature range. The ±8 A range provides ample headroom for measuring nominal currents up to 8 A with transient overcurrent capability, while the 5 µs response time and 100 kHz bandwidth capture fast-changing motor drive and switching waveforms with high fidelity. The SMD design enables direct integration onto surface-mount circuit boards, and the insertion slot accommodates busbars, providing flexibility in system design. The 1.1 kV insulation ensures robust safety isolation, and the 125°C operating temperature guarantees reliable performance in demanding automotive environments.
