    LEM HTFS 400-P HTFS Series Open Loop Hall Effect Current Transducer

     

    LEM HTFS 400-P Product Overview

    The HTFS 400-P is an open-loop Hall effect current transducer from LEM's HTFS Series, designed for the electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed currents with galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits . This compact PCB-mount transducer is part of a family offering 200 A, 400 A, and 800 A nominal ratings within the same design, simplifying inventory management and providing design flexibility for industrial applications .

    Rated for 400 A nominal with a measuring range of ±600 A , it outputs a ratiometric analog voltage signal following the formula VREF±(1.25⋅IP/IPN)VREF​±(1.25⋅IP​/IPN​) V, with a typical output of 1.25 V at nominal current . The transducer provides ≤±1% accuracy at 25°C and ≤±0.5% linearity error . The reference voltage (VREF) is nominally 2.5 V (1/2 VC) with an output impedance of 200 Ω typical . The device achieves a response time to 90% of IPN of 3.5 µs  and a frequency bandwidth (-3 dB) of DC to 240 kHz . Supply voltage is +5 V (±5%) with a current consumption of 22 mA typical . Mass is 60 g and operating temperature ranges from -40°C to +105°C . Insulation creepage and clearance distances are >4 mm with CTI >220 V . The insulating plastic case is recognized according to UL 94-V0 . Fixation to PCB is via 4 pins Ø1 mm .

    LEM HTFS 400-P Key Advantages

    The HTFS 400-P employs open-loop Hall effect technology with a proprietary ASIC, delivering ≤±1% accuracy and ≤±0.5% linearity while providing galvanic isolation between primary and secondary circuits . The ±600 A measuring range accommodates overloads up to 1.5 times the nominal current, with a magnetic offset after 3× overload of <±0.5% of IPN . The 240 kHz bandwidth and 3.5 µs response time capture dynamic current signals with high fidelity .

    A key feature is the VREF IN/OUT access, allowing the reference voltage to be overdriven with an external reference voltage between 2 V and 2.8 V, providing system-level flexibility . The single +5 V supply simplifies integration into low-voltage systems without requiring bipolar supplies . The compact PCB-mount design offers low power consumption (22 mA), small size and space saving, high immunity to external interference, and no insertion losses . Only one design covers a wide current ratings range from 200 A to 800 A, simplifying inventory management .
