    LEM LA 55-P/SP23 Product Overview

    The LA 55-P/SP23 is a closed-loop Hall effect current transducer from LEM's LA55 series, designed for the electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed currents with galvanic isolation between the primary and secondary circuits . This compact PCB-mount sensor features a 12.7 x 7 mm aperture for primary conductor crossing and is specifically designed to offer better initial offset and offset drift performance compared to standard variants .

    Rated for 50 A nominal with a ±70 A measuring range, it outputs a secondary current of 50 mA (instantaneous) with 0.45% accuracy at ±15 V supply and <0.15% linearity . Turns ratio is 1:1000 . Response time is <1 µs and bandwidth is DC to 200 kHz . Supply voltage range is ±12 V to ±15 V (±5%) . Mass is 18 g and operating temperature is -40°C to +85°C . Insulation test voltage is 2.5 kV with a creepage and clearance distance of 5 mm .

    LEM LA 55-P/SP23 Key Advantages

    The LA 55-P/SP23 employs closed-loop Hall effect technology, delivering 0.45% accuracy and <0.15% linearity while maintaining excellent performance with low temperature drift, optimized response time, wide frequency bandwidth, and high immunity to external interference . The SP23 variant offers improved offset characteristics with initial offset as low as ±0.1 mA and offset drift of ±0.25 mA max over the 0°C to +70°C range . The ±70 A range provides ample headroom for measuring nominal currents up to 50 A with transient overcurrent capability of 3 × IPN, while the <1 µs response time and 200 kHz bandwidth capture fast-changing switching waveforms with high fidelity . The PCB-mount design with 12.7 x 7 mm aperture enables direct board integration, and the insulating plastic case recognized according to UL 94-V0 ensures robust safety isolation . The device conforms to EN 50178 and IEC 61010-1 standards with reinforced insulation up to 150 V .
