    LEM LF 205-P Closed-Loop Hall Effect Current Transducer

     

    LEM LF 205-P Product Overview

    The LF 205-P is a closed-loop Hall effect current transducer from LEM's LF series, designed for the electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed currents with galvanic isolation between the primary circuit (high power) and the secondary circuit (electronic circuit). The "P" suffix indicates a PCB mount version with through-hole mounting, making it suitable for direct integration onto printed circuit boards. The LF series is known for high accuracy, fast response, and robust design for demanding industrial environments.

    The sensor features a 17 × 11 mm aperture for the primary conductor crossing and is designed for PCB mount with a compact form factor. It provides an 100 mA instantaneous current output with a 1:5000 turns ratio. Accuracy is ±0.4%, with linearity ±0.1% and a response time of <1 µs.

    The LF 205-P operates on a ±15V to ±24V bipolar supply, with a DC~100 kHz frequency bandwidth. It features a 3 kV RMS insulation test voltage for high-voltage safety. The insulated plastic case is recognized according to UL 94-V0 and the sensor is designed for drives, power supplies, renewable energies, and welding applications.

    Based on the LF series architecture, the LF 205-P is part of a family that offers ±0.4% accuracy, <0.1% linearity, and a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, making it suitable for high-precision current measurement in demanding industrial environments.

    LEM LF 205-P Core Advantages

    The LF 205P employs closedloop Hall technology with active compensation, delivering ±0.4% accuracy and ±0.1% linearity across the full measuring range. This architecture fundamentally eliminates core saturation errors that degrade performance in openloop sensors. The sensor is fully bipolar and galvanically isolated through its reinforced plastic case recognized according to UL 94V0.

    The ±1500 A measuring range provides 3× overload capability, giving ample safety margin for traction system transients and fault conditions. The <1 µs response time and 100 kHz bandwidth capture fast IGBT switching transients and highfrequency current components essential for protection and control applications. The 17 × 11 mm aperture accommodates busbars and cables, and the PCB mount design enables easy integration onto circuit boards.

    The 3 kV RMS insulation test voltage ensures safety in highvoltage applications. The sensor features low temperature drift, wide frequency bandwidth, no insertion losses, high immunity to external interference, and current overload capability. The compact PCB mount design with throughhole mounting enables easy integration.
