The LT505-S/SP12 belongs to the LT505 series from LEM (Switzerland). It is a high-precision current sensor based on closed-loop Hall effect technology, capable of instantaneous measurement of DC, AC, pulsed, and irregular waveforms. This model features an additional Φ12 mm mounting hole for more secure and flexible installation. It is specifically designed for demanding applications such as industrial automation, rail transit, and power energy, where accuracy and reliability are critical.

The closed-loop (compensated) Hall effect technology ensures that the magnetic field generated by the primary current is compensated in real time by the secondary coil. This delivers excellent linearity and minimal temperature drift, with measurement error within 0.5%–0.6%. Whether monitoring the DC bus of a VFD or providing feedback control for precision power supplies, the LT505-S/SP12 delivers trusted "zero-deviation" data.
Rated at 500 A, the sensor can measure up to 1400 A peak, covering everything from small currents to overload fault conditions. The instantaneous response mechanism ensures microsecond tracking speed to accurately capture pulsed and irregular waveforms. One sensor handles 0.1 A to 1400 A – no more frequent model changes!
Complete electrical insulation is achieved between the primary (high-power side) and secondary (electronic circuit side). Any surges, short circuits, or harmonic interference on the high-voltage side will not be conducted to the downstream control system. The design meets industrial insulation withstand and EMC standards, ensuring system safety and personnel protection.
This model is optimized for severe vibration and harsh conditions. The Φ12 mm mounting hole allows rigid attachment to a rail or cabinet with standard bolts. Combined with robust metal packaging, the sensor maintains longterm zero stability even in highvibration environments such as locomotive traction and wind power generation – no signal drift due to loosening.
Ideal for variable frequency drives, servo drives, UPS, and switching power supplies for DC/AC current closed-loop control and monitoring. The measuring range can be extended up to 0.1 A–20000 A (with other sensor series). The analog output can be directly connected to a PLC or DCS system and is compatible with industrial interfaces such as 4-20 mA / 010 V.
Railway systems demand high vibration resistance and wide temperature performance. The LT505-S/SP12 can be installed on busbars or with clamps. Its modular design offers error as low as 0.2%–2.7% and shortcircuit response time of just microseconds to milliseconds. Widely used for locomotive traction power monitoring, onboard energy meters (e.g., EM4T). Its temperature adaptability and insulation withstand meet stringent railway standards.
In EV charging piles, battery management systems (BMS), and photovoltaic inverters, realtime current monitoring of the DC/AC side is critical. The closedloop Hall technology of the LT505-S/SP12 precisely captures instantaneous high currents during battery charge/discharge, providing reliable data for charge/discharge efficiency optimization, fault warning, and energy management.
