In your designs, every milliamp of current fluctuation can affect overall performance and safety. The LEM LT58-S7/SP12 is a high-performance closed-loop (compensated) current sensor based on Hall effect technology – designed for industrial applications that demand high accuracy, fast response, and long-term reliability.
LEM is a world-leading manufacturer of electrical measurement components, providing cutting-edge technology and high-quality test solutions to industrial, rail, energy, automation, and automotive sectors. Whether your system is in development or in production maintenance, LEM delivers trustworthy precision measurement. As a key member of LEM's LT series, the LT58-S7/SP12 embodies the brand’s engineering excellence and quality standards.
Unlike conventional open-loop Hall sensors, the LT58-S7/SP12 employs a dynamic “zero-flux” closed-loop compensation principle: an integrated Hall element detects the magnetic field generated by the primary current, and a secondary compensation coil instantaneously generates an opposing field to cancel any core flux error. This closedloop structure eliminates nonlinearity, temperature drift, and hysteresis, ensuring high accuracy and excellent linearity across the full measurement range.

Thanks to its closed-loop Hall core technology, the LT58-S7/SP12 excels in many high-precision current measurement applications:
Variable frequency drive monitoring – real-time motor stator current feedback for vector control, plus overload protection and harmonic analysis.
New energy & automotive electronics – battery charge/discharge current monitoring for high-accuracy SOC estimation (coulomb counting); also suitable for power management and motor drives in cars, buses and trucks.
UPS & switch-mode power supplies – accurate input/output current detection for reliable system operation.
Servo motors & electrostatic conversion – stable operation in AC variable-frequency servo drives and DC motor traction.
Beyond these, the sensor is widely used in oil & gas, energy, rail traction, photovoltaic inverter grid-tie control, welding power supplies, and many other industries.
Closed-loop zero-flux design – superior accuracy and linearity
Automatically compensates temperature drift and hysteresis, maintaining stable measurement characteristics even in harsh temperature environments.
Ultra-high bandwidth & microsecond response – safeguarding critical systems
DC to 100 kHz bandwidth plus <1μs response time captures high-frequency pulses and transient overcurrents, meeting fast protection requirements for IGBTs and other power devices.
Multiple safety & isolation features – reliable operation
6 kV (50 Hz, 1 min) isolation voltage between primary and secondary, combined with a UL 94-V0 flame-retardant case, provides high immunity to moisture, high voltage, and complex electromagnetic environments. Excellent overload capacity withstands sudden high-current surges without damage.
Selection Guide – Is the LT58-S7/SP12 Right for You?
This sensor is ideal for:
Closed-loop detection of medium currents requiring electrical isolation and better than ±1% accuracy.
Dynamic monitoring systems that need to capture high-frequency pulses or instantaneous overcurrents.
Industrial equipment operating at -10°C to +70°C (storage range -25°C to +80°C).
Compact system architectures that need PCBmount installation and easy integration.
Devices powered by a stable ±12 to ±15 V dual supply.
Model breakdown: The LT58-S7/SP12 belongs to the LT58S7 series; the SP12 suffix indicates a specific mounting or performance configuration, ensuring compatibility with different applications.
