Closed-loop Hall effect for high accuracy and fast response
The LTC 1000-S/SP15 operates on closed-loop (compensated) Hall effect technology. A magnetic balance feedback mechanism continuously compensates for the primary magnetic field generated by the measured current. This advanced principle delivers excellent accuracy (±0.4 % typical), superior linearity (±0.1 %), and very low temperature drift, ensuring stable and reliable performance even under severe temperature variations.
Fast transient response
In power electronic systems with high switching frequencies and transient disturbances, response speed is critical. With a 1 μs response time, the LTC 1000-S/SP15 accurately captures instantaneous current fluctuations, providing real-time, accurate feedback for system control. Combined with a wide 100 kHz bandwidth, it handles DC, AC, and complex pulse currents with ease.
High immunity and safe isolation
Signal stability in complex electromagnetic environments is a key performance indicator. The LTC 1000-S/SP15 offers strong immunity to external magnetic fields and features galvanic isolation between the primary circuit (high voltage) and secondary circuit (signal side), fully protecting the downstream control system and operator safety. With an isolation test voltage of 13.4 kV, it provides a substantial safety margin for high-voltage applications.
Wide temperature range and zero insertion loss
The transducer operates reliably over a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C, meeting extreme application needs from arctic cold to high-temperature environments. Moreover, the closed-loop design creates zero insertion loss – no additional power loss or thermal effect is imposed on the primary circuit, preserving system efficiency.
The LTC 1000-S/SP15 fully considers practical installation needs, adopting a modular, compact design that offers installation flexibility without compromising performance.
Horizontal or vertical orientation
Depending on system layout requirements, the transducer can be mounted horizontally or vertically. Three different foot mounting options provide even more flexibility, allowing the sensor to seamlessly integrate into various equipment structures, no matter how confined the space.
Dual secondary connection options
To accommodate different wiring preferences and protection requirements, the transducer offers two secondary connection methods: 4×M5 screw terminals or 4×Faston (6.3×0.8 mm) quick connectors. Whether you prioritise assembly efficiency or high-reliability fixed connections, you will find an easy fit.
Flexible busbar integration
The transducer supports configurations with or without a busbar. The busbar itself can be mounted in two ways according to customer preference, offering maximum design freedom from component selection to production integration.
While the LTC series is purpose-built for traction and railway applications, its excellent performance also suits industrial automation and high-precision power control.
Railway traction systems – Single-phase or three-phase inverters, propulsion and braking choppers, propulsion converters, and auxiliary converters are the classic application scenarios, ensuring stable, safe and efficient train operation.
Industrial drives and motor control – In industrial frequency converters and servo drives, the transducer enables real-time motor current monitoring, detects anomalies, and ensures efficient, reliable equipment operation.
Electric vehicles and battery management – In electric vehicle battery management systems (BMS), precise current measurement is essential for state-of-charge (SOC) estimation and battery protection. Looking toward future high-power onboard chargers and BMS, the LTC 1000-S/SP15 meets safety standards with its high accuracy and reliability.
Energy storage and renewables – In storage converters (PCS) and solar inverters, real-time, accurate current monitoring improves energy conversion efficiency, supporting stable green energy supply.
With the rapid growth of the global electric vehicle and railway markets, high-performance sensors like the LTC 1000-S/SP15 are becoming key components for the safe, efficient operation of new-energy systems.
