The LTC600-SFC is a high-performance closed-loop Hall-effect current sensor from the LEM Group. It has a rated current of 500 A and is designed for precise electronic measurement of DC, AC, and pulsed currents. With excellent electrical isolation, the sensor provides a reliable safety barrier between the primary (high-power) circuit and the secondary (electronic) circuit. It is widely used in demanding applications such as industrial automation, renewable energy, rail transport, and power management where high accuracy and reliability are essential.

Unlike traditional open-loop solutions, the LTC600-SFC uses closed-loop (compensated) Hall-effect current sensing. A secondary coil generates a compensation magnetic field that cancels the field produced by the primary current, keeping the magnetic core in a zeroflux state. This results in very low thermal drift and excellent linearity (±0.1 %) over a wide temperature range – performance that openloop designs cannot match.
With a bandwidth from DC to 100 kHz, the LTC600-SFC faithfully reproduces current waveforms for DC, mains-frequency AC, and high-frequency pulsed signals. The response time is < 1 µs and the di/dt following capability exceeds 100 A/µs. Even during fast transients such as inverter switching or motor startup surges, the sensor delivers an accurate output signal without any “blind” period.
High-strength electrical isolation is provided between primary and secondary circuits. The insulation test voltage (50 Hz, 1 min) is 13.4 kV r.m.s., and the partial discharge extinction voltage is > 2.8 kV. In highvoltage applications such as UPS, switch-mode power supplies, and welders, the LTC600-SFC safely converts the high-power primary current into a low-current signal while eliminating any threat to the control electronics. The insulating case meets UL 94-V0 flameretardant rating, further increasing safety.
In industrial and power electronic environments, noise and interference are major enemies of measurement accuracy. Thanks to the closed-loop magnetic balance principle, the LTC600-SFC offers high immunity to external stray magnetic fields. Integrated shielding further suppresses electromagnetic interference, ensuring clean and reliable output signals.
The sensor works by magnetic coupling, adding zero insertion loss to the primary circuit. In high-current systems, every watt of saved loss means lower heat generation and higher system efficiency. In addition, the LTC600SFC can withstand instantaneous current peaks up to ±1500 A without damage.
The LTC600-SFC meets diverse measurement needs across industrial, energy, and transport sectors:
AC variable speed drives and servo motor drives – precisely monitor inverter input/output current for vector control and torque adjustment.
DC motor drive static converters – perform critical current measurement in DC speed control systems and reversible rectifiers.
Battery-powered applications – monitor battery charge/discharge current in real-time for state-of-charge management and overcurrent protection.
Uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) – track input/output currents, ensuring protection of critical loads during power switching.
Switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) – monitor key node currents to assist design and fault diagnosis.
Welding power sources – measure welding current in real-time for closed-loop current control.
Railway equipment – compliant with EN 50155 railway standard; used in traction converters and auxiliary power supplies.
Accurate – ±0.7 % overall accuracy, ±0.1 % linearity; high-fidelity output from closed-loop Hall technology.
Fast – 1 µs response time, 100 kHz bandwidth, > 100 A/µs di/dt following – ready for transient currents.
Reliable – wide operating temperature (–40 °C to +85 °C), multiple electrical isolation barriers, EN 50155 railway compliance.
Safe – UL 94-V0 case, high-strength primary-secondary isolation, zero insertion loss.
Versatile – from AC drives to DC drives, from UPS to welders, from battery supplies to railway – one sensor covers it all.
